Thinking through white in every detail

Penser le blanc dans les moindres détails

A white set might seem simple. Yet, it is precisely when working on such a minimalist piece that certain details take on their full importance.

The choice of fabric, its drape, the transparency, or even the adjustments made during fittings: several decisions were necessary before arriving at the final version of our set.

Finding the right drape

From the start, we were looking for a natural drape, with a slightly relaxed silhouette.

We ultimately chose a material composed of 60% linen.

Linen naturally possesses that slightly irregular and textured look that gives it all its character. Over time, the material softens and gradually develops a drape of its own.

We were not looking for a perfectly smooth material. This slight irregularity is part of the aesthetic we wanted to give the set.

The challenge of white

With a white material, another balance must be struck: the one between lightness and opacity.

This is a point to which we paid particular attention during the fittings. We eventually decided to add a lining to limit transparency while maintaining the look and lightness of the material.

A detail that is barely noticeable at first glance, but which truly changes how the piece is worn.

What a photo doesn't always show

A lining, the behavior of a material, or a few millimeters adjusted on a cut are not necessarily visible in a photo.

Yet, it is often these details that take on their full importance once the garment is worn.

At EYAMI, we try to build our pieces this way: starting with an idea, testing it against initial fittings, observing what works, and adjusting what needs to be until we find the right balance.
